Art Assignment - Week 3

Sigh... I sometimes hate the saying, "Life happens..."

This was one of those weeks...

I had a full plan, a cut-throat plan to complete my full assignment in time! I would do 3-4 pictures a day, in between reading for other classes and in between other assignments... it was fool-proof!

Obviously not Teasha-proof....

Early on in the week, I was working on one of these said assignments, and I did a 'Teasha.' That is to say, I knocked over the bottle of India Ink and it got all over the carpet, computer tower, and desk... So, I ended up spending two days cleaning up this mess... needless to say, I'm behind in my assignments again...

So, The assignment this week was to create another 20 drawings exploring a different material/media and creating opposing gradients. What's a gradient you ask? It's when one color goes from a lighter shade to a darker shade, or vise versa. It's also when two or more colors go from one to the next without a sudden break in the pattern. Our professor instructed us to explore our materials, come up with several different medias, including creating our own. We were also allowed to draw both from observation and random shapes.

I unfortunately understood this wrong for the most part. When he said to use different medias I thought he meant for each drawing. So, most of my drawings are a little off because of my misunderstanding. Also, this is very much a abstract style, which I am very much not used to doing...

Eevee Stuffy - Done with Coffee painted on and Faber Castelle Pink #123 with my normal shading technique

Circle - Done with H2 Pencil in circular motions and Pastel Brown #15 with a crosshatch pattern

Square - Done with Charcoal 6B straight lines and Graphite 2B also straight lines

Lamp - Done with Calligraphy Pen using India Ink Stippled (yes, this was the cause of my chaos this week), and Two shades of eyeshadow painted on (this part was fun).

Coffee Pot - Done with 6B Pencil flat against the paper and Lumocolor Pen done with square strokes.

Hot Glue Gun - 2 types of Fake Blood (yes, from Halloween Costume Shop) and Prismacolor Pen .08 in circular motions

Cylinder - Done with Red Acrylic Paint, dipping my thumb into it and pressing it onto the paper, and Pastel Brown #10 using squiggly lines from top down.  (I used painter's tape to keep them separate

Paint Tube - Done with Purple Sharpie Pen in X motions, and Green Highlighter in circles

Exacta Knife - Done with Blue Watercolor Paint in squiggles and Green Grease Face Paint (yes, also from Halloween Stores). I dipped the flat end of a pen into the paint and pressed it onto the paper to create the effect.

Star - This was done completely with Black Oil Pastel, the stick laid flat against the paper and rotated in a circular motion (once again used painter's tape to keep it tight.

Paint Tray - Done completely with Blue Pen, scribbling effect.

Rectangle - Completly with Black Permanent Marker (not too happy how it turned out).

Hand - Drawn with 4B Pencil using the #8 throughout the whole thing.

Hopefully next week will go well... I'm tired of falling behind in everything...
